Microsoft 365 migration
GoDaddy to Microsoft 365 Migration
Move your Microsoft 365 out of GoDaddy and keep your emails, calendars and contacts
If your business email came with your GoDaddy domain, GoDaddy controls your Microsoft 365 admin settings and billing. Digitek IT is a Microsoft partner that moves businesses off GoDaddy and onto Microsoft 365 they manage directly, with the licences, email records and security set up properly.
We plan the move, make the switch out of hours and help your team sign back in the next morning.

Some of the businesses we work with

GoDaddy and Microsoft 365
Microsoft 365 through GoDaddy works differently
Many businesses set up their email when they bought their domain, so their Microsoft 365 came through GoDaddy. It is real Microsoft 365, but GoDaddy runs the account. The admin settings sit in GoDaddy’s portal, the licences are billed by GoDaddy, and the Microsoft 365 admin centre sends you back to GoDaddy.
That works well enough for a small team. As the business grows, most owners want the full admin centre, a wider choice of plans and one IT provider looking after the whole setup.
Moving off GoDaddy puts your Microsoft 365 under your own business. In most cases your mailboxes stay where they are, so the change is about who runs the account rather than moving every email.
Moving off GoDaddy is worth it if
- You cannot reach the full Microsoft 365 admin centre
- You need Teams, SharePoint or the desktop Office apps
- You want multi-factor authentication on every account
- Your SPF, DKIM and DMARC records have never been checked
- You want your licences and IT support in one place
- Nobody is sure who has admin access
What We Move
Two kinds of GoDaddy email, two ways to move
The first step is working out which GoDaddy product you have, because each one moves to Microsoft 365 in a different way.
Microsoft 365 from GoDaddy
Your email already runs on Microsoft 365, with GoDaddy running the account. We take the account out of GoDaddy’s control and put it under your business, so your mailboxes, folders and calendars stay where they are.
- New licences in place before GoDaddy's are cancelled
- GoDaddy's admin access removed
- Passwords reset and staff helped to sign back in
GoDaddy Professional Email or Workspace Email
These are GoDaddy’s own email products, not Microsoft 365. We set up a new Microsoft 365 account for your business, copy your emails, calendars and contacts across, then switch your domain over.
- Mailboxes copied and checked before the switch
- Your domain pointed to Microsoft 365
- Outlook and phones set up for each person
Included in every move
Microsoft 365 licences
We usually supply your licences as a Microsoft partner and recommend the plan that suits your team, or set you up to buy them from Microsoft directly.
DNS and email records
Your MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC records are updated so email keeps flowing and reaches your clients’ inboxes. Your domain and website can stay with GoDaddy.
Account security
Multi-factor authentication goes on every account and admin access is limited to the people who need it, as part of the move.
Microsoft 365 backup
Once you are across, we can add Microsoft 365 backup so deleted or encrypted email and files can be brought back.

How It Works
How we move you off GoDaddy
01
We check your GoDaddy setup
We find out which GoDaddy product you have, how many mailboxes there are, where your domain is managed and what else sends email, such as scanners or website forms.
02
You get a clear plan and price
You get a written plan with the steps and the timing, and the price is agreed before any work starts.
03
We set up licences and access
Your new Microsoft 365 licences go in place and GoDaddy’s admin access is removed, before anything at GoDaddy is cancelled.
04
We make the switch out of hours
We complete the move after hours, update your email records and reset passwords, so your team is ready for the morning.
05
We check it and look after it
We help your team sign back in, check email is flowing, help you cancel the GoDaddy renewal, then look after Microsoft 365 from there.
What To Expect
What your team will notice
Most of the move happens in the background. This is what your team will see, and when.
Before the switch
We let your team know when the change is happening and what they will need to do. Nobody needs to stop work while we prepare.
On the night
We make the change after hours, while your team is offline, then check that email is coming in and going out.
The next morning
Staff sign back in to Outlook, Teams and their phones with a new password. Their emails, folders, calendars and contacts are where they left them, and we are on hand to help.

This is their second company we are using and extremely professional. Helped me setup our microsoft outlook (absolute nightmare when we were trying to do it ourselves) but they saved the day. They gave me an upfront number which I love vs guessing how much it'll be right at the endPosted on Google![]()

I was experiencing issues with email deliverability and wasn’t sure what was causing it. I reached out to Jordan, and with just one quick look, he pinpointed the problem, my DMARC records weren’t set up correctly. He offered a complimentary call, explained everything clearly, and helped me get it sorted straight away. Super responsive, incredibly knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I’ll definitely be referring others to him in future!Posted on Google![]()

Questions
GoDaddy migration: common questions
What is the difference between GoDaddy's Microsoft 365 and Microsoft 365 direct?
Both run on Microsoft’s servers. With GoDaddy, GoDaddy runs the account, so admin settings and billing go through GoDaddy and some Microsoft 365 admin features are not available to you. With Microsoft 365 direct, your business holds the admin access and can choose any Microsoft 365 business plan.
Will we lose any emails?
If you are on Microsoft 365 from GoDaddy, your mailboxes usually stay where they are, because the account moves rather than the emails. If you are on GoDaddy Professional Email or Workspace Email, we copy your emails, calendars and contacts across and check them before the switch.
Do we have to move our domain or website away from GoDaddy?
No. Your domain and website can stay with GoDaddy. We only change the email records on your domain so they point to your new Microsoft 365.
Will our email stop working during the move?
We make the switch out of hours so your team is not trying to work while it happens. The main thing staff notice is signing back in to Outlook, Teams and their phones the next morning.
Do we need new Microsoft 365 licences?
Yes. Your GoDaddy licences are replaced with licences your business holds directly. We usually supply them as a Microsoft partner, or you can buy them from Microsoft. The new licences go in before the GoDaddy renewal is cancelled, so there can be a short overlap while both are active.
Why does the order of the steps matter?
While GoDaddy still has admin access to your account, cancelling the GoDaddy plan can remove users or your domain from Microsoft 365. That is why we put the new licences in place and remove GoDaddy’s access first, and only then cancel the GoDaddy renewal.
How long does a GoDaddy migration take?
It depends on which GoDaddy product you have and how many mailboxes need to move. We give you the timing in your plan before any work starts.
How much does a GoDaddy to Microsoft 365 migration cost?
It depends on how many people you have and which GoDaddy product you are on. We look at your setup first and agree the price before any work starts, and ongoing support is month to month with 30 days notice.
Ready to move your Microsoft 365 off GoDaddy?
Tell us which GoDaddy email plan you are on and how many people use it. We will explain how the move would work, agree the price before any work starts, and there is no lock-in contract.
