Client Case Study: NDIS Provider
Caring Supports: a clearer, more secure IT setup for a Western Sydney NDIS provider
Clear billing, organised Microsoft 365, properly set up laptops and local onsite support
Caring Supports is a family-owned NDIS and disability support provider based in Western Sydney. Their team supports people across Western Sydney, the Blue Mountains, Newcastle and Orange with personal care, community access, respite care, domestic assistance and other supports.
As the organisation grew, they needed IT that was secure, easy to manage and supported locally. Digitek IT now looks after their IT with ongoing managed IT support.

The Challenge
IT that was getting harder to manage as the team grew
Before working with Digitek IT, Caring Supports was dealing with several IT issues that affected billing transparency, security and day-to-day support.
Their previous IT provider was based in Western Australia, so getting someone onsite was difficult. Laptops had been set up in different ways, Microsoft 365 had become hard to follow, and there was no dedicated protection against phishing emails or unsafe websites.
What we found
- They were unhappy with the lack of transparency in their IT bills, and were directed back to their contract whenever they asked questions about charges or services
- Staff signed in to laptops with local accounts instead of their work email accounts
- Some laptops were still on Windows Home instead of Windows Professional
- Personal Microsoft accounts were being used as administrator accounts on some laptops
- SharePoint folders were disorganised, and it was not always clear who could access what
- Support was not always timely, and onsite help was hard to arrange
- There was no dedicated email security to protect staff from phishing and suspicious messages
- There was no DNS filtering to help block access to unsafe or inappropriate websites
What We Did
A cleaner, safer setup with local support
We started by understanding Caring Supports’ current setup, how the business runs and where it is heading. From there, we made these changes.
Clear pricing and billing
We moved Caring Supports onto transparent pricing and billing, so they can see what each charge is for and ask us about anything on their bill.
Windows Professional and work accounts
Every user was upgraded to Windows Professional, the personal Microsoft accounts used as administrator accounts were removed, and staff now sign in to their laptops with their work email accounts.
Teams organised by area
We set up Microsoft Teams for each area of the business, such as marketing and clients, and gave the right staff access to each one.
Email security and DNS filtering
We set up email security to help protect the team from phishing emails, malicious links and suspicious messages, and DNS filtering to help block access to unsafe or inappropriate websites.
Offsite Microsoft 365 backup
Caring Supports’ Microsoft 365 data is now backed up offsite, so emails and files can be restored if something goes wrong.
Proper onboarding and offboarding
Departing staff are now offboarded properly, and new starters are given a freshly reset laptop.
Onsite support when it is needed
Our Western Sydney team can now come onsite for laptop setups and other issues that need someone in person.
Support for working from home
We put better accountability processes in place so staff can work from home.
The Result
A clearer, more secure and better organised setup
With Digitek IT managing their IT, Caring Supports’ team can find the right information through organised Teams and SharePoint areas, and every laptop is set up properly with a work account. New starters and departing staff are handled in a more controlled way, and the business has stronger email protection, DNS filtering, offsite Microsoft 365 backup, clearer billing and local onsite support when it is needed.
