IT Security Review for Small Businesses
Know where your business stands and what to fix first
Digitek IT will look over your accounts, devices, email and backups, then give you a written list of what to fix, in order of priority and in plain English.
The review is at no cost, and you are under no obligation to use us for any of the work it recommends.
What the review looks at
Where small businesses most often have gaps.
- Accounts, passwords and multi-factor authentication
- Laptops, computers and updates
- Email security, SPF, DKIM and DMARC

Security Review
A clear picture of your IT security
Most small businesses know their IT security could be better, but it is hard to know where to start or what matters most.
Our security review answers that. We look at how your business is set up today and tell you what is working, what needs attention and which changes will make the biggest difference.
You get the findings in writing, so you can act on them with us, with your own IT person or on your own.
A security review is worth booking if
- You are not sure multi-factor authentication is on for everyone
- Your cyber insurance form asks questions you cannot answer
- Staff have left and you are not sure their access was removed
- Your backups have never been tested
- Nobody has looked at your IT security for a while
What We Check
What your security review covers
We focus on the areas where small businesses most often have gaps, and where a fix makes a real difference.
Accounts and sign-ins
We check that every person has their own account, that multi-factor authentication is switched on and that admin access is kept to the people who need it.
Laptops and computers
We look at whether your computers are getting updates, have security software running and are set up so company data stays on company devices.
Email security
We check how your email is filtered for phishing and whether SPF, DKIM and DMARC are set up, so others cannot easily send email pretending to be you.
Backups
We look at what is backed up, where it is kept and whether it could actually be restored, including your Microsoft 365 email and files.
Leavers and access
We check whether people who have left still have access to email, files or business systems, and how access is removed today.
Essential Eight as a guide
We use the Australian Government’s Essential Eight as a guide to what good looks like, so the priorities you get are based on a recognised framework.
You leave with a written list of what to fix first, in plain English, and the choice of what happens next is yours.
What You Get
What you receive after the review
A written priority list
Every finding is written up in plain English and sorted by priority, so you know what to do first and what can wait.
A walk-through of the findings
We take you through the list, answer your questions and explain why each item matters for your business.
Help with cyber insurance questions
If your insurer has sent a security questionnaire, we can help you understand the questions and answer them accurately.
No obligation
The review is yours to keep. You can fix the items with us, with your own IT person or on your own.

This is their second company we are using and extremely professional. Helped me setup our microsoft outlook (absolute nightmare when we were trying to do it ourselves) but they saved the day. They gave me an upfront number which I love vs guessing how much it'll be right at the endPosted on Google![]()

I was experiencing issues with email deliverability and wasn’t sure what was causing it. I reached out to Jordan, and with just one quick look, he pinpointed the problem, my DMARC records weren’t set up correctly. He offered a complimentary call, explained everything clearly, and helped me get it sorted straight away. Super responsive, incredibly knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I’ll definitely be referring others to him in future!Posted on Google![]()

Jim has helped me a number of times with my website safety and functionality. Not only that, but he has helped me research laptop and monitors for me when I was overwhelmed with the choices and was able to explain to me the differences. Will be using Jim at digitek for many years to come.
Questions
Security review: common questions
Is the security review really at no cost?
Yes. The review is at no cost and there is no obligation. You keep the written list, and you choose whether to fix the items with us, with your own IT person or on your own.
What does the security review look at?
We look at your accounts and multi-factor authentication, your laptops and computers, your email security including SPF, DKIM and DMARC, your backups and whether people who have left still have access.
Will you tell us we are Essential Eight compliant?
No. We use the Essential Eight as a guide to what good looks like and to help set your priorities, but the review is not a formal Essential Eight assessment or a compliance certificate.
Can you help with our cyber insurance questionnaire?
Yes. We can help you understand the questions your insurer is asking and answer them accurately based on how your business is set up.
Who does the review?
The review is done by the Digitek IT team. Jordan, who has around 10 years of experience in IT and cyber security, leads our security work.

No. The written list is yours. If you would like us to help, we will agree the price before any work starts, and ongoing support is month to month with 30 days notice.
We already have an IT provider. Can we still book a review?
Yes. A review gives you an independent view of your setup, and you can share the written list with your current provider.
